Hethersett Parish Council is the 4th largest authority of the 123 South Norfolk councils.
PARISH STAFF & OFFICE
The Clerk to Hethersett Parish Council is Sara White. The Administration Assistant is Laura Loome. The Clerk & RFO’s duty is to act in legal and administrative matters and as a point of contact for residents. South Norfolk District Council consults the Parish Council on all local planning issues, appeals, inquiries and licensing where these affect Hethersett.
The Parish Office is based at the Village Hall, Back Lane. NR9 3JJ (upstairs). Opening times to the public are 10am-4pm Monday to Thursday (aside from Bank holidays and some dates over the Christmas period).
COUNCILLORS
The Council has 13 Councillors who are elected (some co-opted), to represent the best interests of local residents. The four-year term of this Council commenced in May 2023 when the full Council was open to election. There is one Councillor Vacancy.
Your Councillors are: Claire Hankey (Chair), Leslie Dale (Vice Chair), Heath Dakin, Dr Anne Edwards, Paul Everett, Kelsea Law, Eileen Mulvaney, Habib ur Rehman, Jennifer Walpole, Robert Revens, Jonathan Loome, Karen Prime and John Baker.

PRECEPT
The Parish Council can exercise legal powers to run certain local facilities and services and its activities are funded by an extra cost known as a “precept†added to each householder’s Council Tax bill. The precept for year 25/26 is set at £254,486, at the cost of £90.50 per household per year. The national average is forecasted at £88.54.
The precept for 24/25 is £83.11. The increase of £7.39 per household is an 8.64% increase on the previous year
MEETINGS
Members of the public are most welcome to attend both face-to-face and virtual meetings. There are adjournments at the beginning and end of each meeting to allow members of the public to speak. The full Council meets on the third Monday of each month, except August, at 7.30pm in the Village Hall, Back Lane, Hethersett.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Council, either through its own activities or by giving assistance to other village groups, is involved in providing, maintaining and protecting: • Open spaces • Grass cutting in the Village and Churchyard • Footpath lighting • Litter control• Seats and shelters • The Village Hall .
TRUSTS
The Memorial Playing Field and facilities and the Village Hall are run by respective Management Committees separate from the Parish Council, with nominated Council representatives on the Committees. The Parish Council helps with funding to the Memorial Playing Field.
